Any update on the ability to update the hot backup automatically when changes are made? Even just starting with syncing the contacts list etc would be nice as then the end-user could do that themselves.
Another Vote for this. Just migrated from V7 to the new version. Hot Backup / Redundancy is a compleate nightmare trying to keep the two servers the same. I have given up trying to copy databases between the two servers and just gone to manually changing settings on both servers. Doing this is going to bite me sooner or later but I don't really have another option at this point.
Even if we could just get a quick config export/import or something that could be run manually would be far superior to what we have to deal with now. I know you would have to exclude certain configs like Gateways as they could differbetween servers
This is a really important feature for us. We are deploying hot backup and it needs better automatic coordination...much like iFix or Wonderware enhanced failover.
Even adding a few more heartbeats or data pokes for the HMIs that WIN911 already has them for would be helpful. I have a heartbeats/data poke that only tells me that WIN911 is running. One for standby or active would be great. Maybe even for each of the WIN911 services and or any direct connect application . :)
I agree both features are valuable which is why we hope to implement both features simultaneously. However, it is possible to implement the functionality in two phases. As I mentioned to Cory, once we get further along in the design stages, we'll share some more information and make the decision on which features we'll implement first.
Thank you for the input, I hope you all keep it coming.
While the automatic synchronization of the configuration in a hot backup pair is very valuable, it is equally important/useful to also have automatic fail over built into the product so that if the primary stops functioning, the secondary automatically takes over the notifications.
Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it. We are planning work for hot backups / redundancy and a piece of it will include the syncing of configurations in some form. Unfortunately for us, it isn't as easy as making the databases match exactly, as the notifier gateway settings can differ from one WIN-911 installation to another. For example, a modem on one server can be set to COM1 while a modem on the other is set to COM3. We'll work out these details when we tackle redundancy and we'll be in touch once we get to a point where we have some designs to share and hope to gather your feedback then.
It would be nice to see a "check box" so to say, to enable 2 instances of WIN-911 to create a simple heartbeat between 2 running WIN-911 instances. It would simply place one in the opposite state as the other instance. This way, if one is Active, ...
Looking for an update on this as well. This feature request looks to be the highest voted on here and is approaching 4 years.

Any progress on this and is WIN-911 still on silverlight?
